Common Uses:

Used to treat symptoms of enlarged prostate. These include night time urination or decreased flow of urine.

Off Label Uses:

May help treat hair loss.

Side Effects:
Serious: Weakness or fainting, dark stools, vomit blood, pain or swelling in breast or testis, chest pain, altered heart rate, easy bruising or bleeding, nausea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, itching, dark urine, or jaundice.

Less Serious: nausea, vomiting, stomach aches, diarrhea, constipation, bad breath, headache, dizziness, insomnia, muscle ache, depression, and descreased libido.

Cautions / Warnings:

Herbal supplements can possibly contain impurities and/or additives. Whenever using herbal supplements, check with a pharmacist when selecting a particular brand or herbal supplement.

Saw palmetto can increase the risk of bleeding. Do not use saw palmetto if you have a blood clotting or excessive bleeding disorder, a stomach ulcer that is bleeding, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn’s disease.

Before taking saw palmetto, discuss with a health care professional if you have liver disease, heart disease, a heart rhythm abnormality, history of stomach ulcers, asthma or any other breathing disorder, and if you are pregnant.

22 Feb 2013	Was having more difficulties with drugs other than Flomax, tehn settled on Flomax. But still had difficulty with flow rate urinating at night and with ejaculation. Added Costco's Prostate Complex and that helped both flow rate and ejaculation. Still not where I would like to be, but improved over simple prescribed meds. I also have GERD and so without the use of smething like Zantac I suffer heart burn from Saw Palmetto.
