Stroke treatment

Description
Stroke is typically characterized by the onset of a blood clot causing the blockage of a blood vessel, blood vessel narrowing, or the rupture of a blood vessel in the brain. This blockage causes the part of the brain to become oxygen deprived.
Causes
The most common stroke is caused by the rupture of blood vessels, or blockage in the brain caused my the accumulation of blood cells or blood platelets.
Prevention
Stroke can typically be prevented if one maintains healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels, exercises regularly, practices healthy eating habits which contain a surplus of fruits and vegetables, and monitors preexisting medical conditions.
Common Symptoms
Common symptoms for stroke are varied, but typically include one or a combination of the following; loss of motor skills, slurred speech and inability to communicate effectively, paralysis or numbness usually on one side of the body, dizziness and headache.
Rare Symptoms
Rare symptoms of stroke include but are not limited to shortness of breath, seizures, unconsciousness, fainting, pain in chest, arms, or legs.
Traditional Treatment
Anticoagulants such as heparin, thrombolytic drugs, brain-saving drugs such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), surgical options which drain hemorrhaged blood, remove an aneurysm preventing proper blood flow, or to clip a ruptured artery, neuroprotecta.
Alternative Treatment
Alternative treatment depends on an individual's risk factors but may include, acupuncture, massage, herbal medicines, aromatherapy, and a healthy diet that is low in fat, high in calcium, grains, protein, and other nutrients.
