User Comments about Lotrel
21 Jun 2010 It reduces my blood pressure significantly if taken at the right dosage but severe headaches accompany it so I'm taking a reduced dosage. Developed severe cough and allergic asthma also.

21 Sep 2009 I am 43 and after 21 years without seeing a physician, my family convinced me to see a doctor after I started suffering from depression. After the exam and bloodwork, my bp was 130\70 and all blood levels were normal. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin and scheduled a follow up visit in 3 weeks. When I went back and had my bp checked, my bp had increased to 212\136. I went straight to the hospital. The docotor took me off the Wellbutrin and prescribed Lotrel and Hydrochlorothiazide. My bp came down to 138\78 and I have stayed on this regiment for 2 years. I recently checked my blood sugar levels and was shocked to find I was at 324. I had never had a problem with this so I called my doctor and started doing research. I found out that hydrochlorothiazide can raise blood sugar levels. So a few days before going to the doctor I stopped taking the hydrochlorothiazide. My blood sugar levels dropped to 150 in a day. My doctor said that I am probably just a diabetic...the drugs couldn't have that effect. I have stayed off the HCTZ but my blood sugar levels went up to 180's. I decided to try to stop taking Lotrel for a few days. In 2 days my blood sugar level dropped to 120, however my bp rose to 160\104. I went back on the Lotrel...my bp came down to 130\80 and my blood sugar went back to 180. I have gone on a low carb diet and I am increasing my excercise in an attempt to get off all meds. I don't advocate anyone experimenting with your meds but you need to be proactive with your doc. One med leads to another and then you are stuck in the cycle. My depression that originally drove me to the doc is now gone thankfully, but it left a mess in it's wake. Eat well, excercise, reduce stress and get off this stuff. It's bad news....

19 Mar 2009 Because I had been placed on Numerous BP meds..this was amazing. I did ignore the cough the first few years, and the dizziness..but..on this fourth year it is causing chest pain and skipped breaths. As I have tried so many other BP drugs (not working) I am at a loss. Do I simply deal with this chest pain etc: to maintain this great BP number.?
