About Levoxyl
Levoxyl is the trade name and the generic name is levothyroxine sodium. The active ingredient of Levoxyl is levothyroxine sodium and the inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium and magnesium stearate. Levoxyl is available in powder form which is injectable and tablet form for oral administration. The various strengths in which Levoxyl is available are 100 mcg (0.1 mg); 112 mcg (0.112 mg); 125 mcg (0.125 mg); 137 mcg (0.137 mg); 150 mcg (0.15 mg); 175 mcg (0.175 mg); 200 mcg (0.2 mg); 25 mcg (0.025 mg); 300 mcg (0.3 mg); 50 mcg (0.05 mg); 500 mcg (0.5 mg); 75 mcg (0.075 mg); 88 mcg (0.088 mg). It is recommended that Levoxyl be administered during morning hours on an empty stomach, and an hour and a half before injesting any food. Levoxyl should be adminstered at least four hours prior or after any other drug that could potentially react with Levoxyl. It should be administered with water and because of its' long half-life, the maximum benefits of Levoxyl will be realized only after about four to six weeks' of administering the medication regularly without fail as prescribed by the physician.
