PreMed Prescription Rating
and Experience Program
Begin your journey into medicine with
valuable hands-on patient experience
RateADrug.com's PreMed Prescription Drug Rating and Experience Program (PPREP) is designed for students in pre-medical or health related fields. Selected students will receive valuable hands-on patient evaluation experience while participating in large scale multi-year studies on side effects and efficacy of medications and supplements.
Benefits
Admission to medical school is highly competitive. Top medical schools are increasingly looking beyond GPA and entrance examination scores to find applicants with exceptional research and volunteering activities, as well as leadership and social skills.
RateADrug.com's PPREP offers a select group of students from each participating university the opportunity to distinguish themselves by working directly with prescription and over-the-counter drug users to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of their medications.
PPREP participants:
  • Gain valuable hands-on patient experience
  • Gain experience in medical writing
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of many medications currently on the market
  • Participate in a large-scale study on the benefits and side effects of medications and supplements
Upon successful completion of PPREP, participants receive:
  • A certificate of completion.
  • A written performance evaluation.
  • Recommendations are available upon request from RateADrug's Medical Advisory Panel.
  • Top participants will have their reports and profiles published on the RateADrug.com website.
  • The top intern per cycle will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
How PPREP Works
Each participant is required to conduct a minimum of 100 patient surveys within 4 months of acceptance into the program. Surveys take approximately five minutes to complete and can be conducted at any time convenient for the participant and patient, including weekends, evenings and holidays. Each participant will need access to a laptop computer to conduct surveys via the RateADrug.com website.
Interns choose a topic to focus on, keep a blog, and contact organizations to promote RateADrug's evaluation methods. Each participant is required to submit a final report on the topic of their choice.
Other tasks may be assigned during the course of the internship. More information and criteria will be given to the students upon application and acceptance.
Eligibility
The program is open to medical students, pre-med students, nurses and nursing students, and students from other health-related fields and select alternative medical programs, subject to PPREP approval.
Application and Admission
Participants are selected based upon their academic background, experience, extracurricular activities, and a short essay explaining why they want to participate in PPREP and how they plan to implement the program.
