At first the drug didn't work. However when I started taking it regularly, same time everyday, it worked. My doctor told me to not drink anything 1 hour before I took it or 8 hours after I took it. That was a major pain and sometimes I found myself dehydrated.

The initial hair loss was much more than I expected - probably half my hair if I judged by the thickness of my ponytail and lasted longer than expected probably 9 months from the start of my taking it. I didn't notice it too much for the first 4-5 months but I was also taking prednisone then. After I stopped the prednisone about 6 months in with the Imuran the hair loss became pronounced. Alendronate is a generic brand and the only one my insurance company will pay for. All generic drugs is what my insurance wants.

Perhaps it is just an effect of being on birth control in general, but with Junel FE my periods are regular (something they had never been), and my cramping is significantly less severe. I have noticed some hormonal changes (ie mood swings, headaches), but equal to or less than other birth control brands I have been on.

Ibuprofen is usually very helpful for headaches and period pain. Although, I would rather take fewer pills to diminish that pain.

I started Loestrin 24 in May of 2010. In July I started having lower abdominal pain followed by upper right abdominal pain. After doing some research I found others had experienced gallbladder spasms. My doctor indicated that I was experiencing gallbladder spasms. I am very healthy and ended up having my appendix removed with no indication of infection b/c of the pain. Since discontinuing my medication three days ago, the symptoms are still there but have improved immensely.
