I don't normally take DayQuil but the one time I used it or a cold it lessened my coughing frequency. It took about a week for it to go away and I still woke up with a sore throat on most mornings.

I would have thought 3 months is a long enough trial, I don't think therefore that this one is going to work for you... Have you tried anything else? If this is the next in a long list of "things to try" then can I suggest that you go back to your GP and ask for a dermatology referral. There is a drug called Roaccutane ( you may have heard of it) Yes, its strong and Yes, it does have side effects, but it is effective against acne when all else has failed. I take the drug as prescribed other than when I have bouts of sleeplessness or twitchiness at night. When this happens I stop taking the medication for a few days/weeks to reduce it in my system and then start it again.
