I have used NuvaRing for over 3 years and the onlly side effect I had was loss of sex drive. I loved being able to control my periods with it and not having to remember a pill everyday. That being said, after 3 years on it I started having severe lower abdominal pain. I originally thought it was a cyst but then the pain migrated throughout my whole pelvic area. Started taking Topamax on vacation to gradually get up to full dose. Went very slowly--got to full dosage at about 4 weeks. I lost weight, but tried to stick with it because the migraines were so bad, but it only reduced them a little bit. At around the 4-5 week mark I was sitting in my living room feeling semi-suicidal and decided I should read the fine print on the side effects. Abilify made my blood pressure so low that I would have blackouts when standing up Abilify affected my body's ability to regulate body temperature. I would feel sick and feverish. My body temperature would be increased. I think the effects on blood pressure (not just orthostatic hypotension) are understated when taking abilify. I felt that this medication could have been life threatening for me.

Yaz seems to be popular due to advertisement and not because of the quality of life the pill provides. I've heard different reactions from different women, I seem to be the only one who experiences worsened periods and severe weigh gain. I gained 37 pounds within a year.
