Beofre starting on qualaquin, I used to use Nivaquin which was very effective, but I think that at a certain point my body started eveloping resistance to the drug. So this is why I started with qualaquin, whose effects are noticeable from day 5 of the treatment. But it gives me this unecessary bitter taste in the mouth, so I have to take a tablespoon of honey after.It also has so many other side effects like generalized lethargy, appetite loss, etc. But I learned to deal with that.

It improved my breathing with only using one puff per day and lasts over 24 hrs. I have had many side effects which I did not before attribute to it but now believe have only occured since taking it for almost a year. I find that my appetite is HUGE if I am off by just an hour of taking my meds. My weight has increase 20 pounds on this med. I get horrible night sweats and insomnia. I"m lucky to be able to sleep more than 4 hours at a stretch. I haven't changed meds because I've moved and haven't found a new doc.
