i wish that the manufacturer would give some indication of the length of time we can expect to experience side efects so that in stopping the medication ,we werent throwing the baby out with the bathwater.we all accept that all meds have side effects, but the severity and duration of them is difficult to assessfor someone new to the drug thanks for a very useful and informative source of information

I have had the Mirena for well over 6 or 7 years (I'm on my second one). During this time, my acne has been difficult to control - especially on my back and chest. I have also been experiencing some problems with finding the right words and thinking straight, though I suppose this could be a sign of getting older. But I'm only 36, so I'm not that old! I took one dose of this medicine, got flushed, hot and very lightheaded. Next thing I knew I was on my way to the emergency room via ambulance. The drug made me pass out. I got 16 stiches, a broken nose and 4 staples in my head from my fall. I would not recommend this medicine. Even the emergency room doctor said that this is all to common with this medicine

It got me out of a severe depressive episode, for which I am grateful. However, I still experience bouts of depression, often in the afternoon. So it is likely not a long term solution for me.
