THIS DRUG SHOULD NOT BE ON THE MARKET!!! It causes PERMANENT sexual dysfunction, swelling, fatigue, depression and sleep problems. Contrary to what Merck claims: these side-effects are NOT temporary. There should be a full investigation into how this drug got approved. It has completely destroyed my life! In 2003, I attempted to commit suicide as a direct result of the drug's after-effects. Other people are telling similar stories on the internet.

Taken 20mg for post traumatic head injury. At first great-headache gone but got very groggy in the morning, had real sugar cravings, heart rhythm problems and just not feeling quite on the earth. So have cut to 10mg for 3 days and stopped altogether today. Yeah I know you are not meant to stop but I think this drug is not that good for me,now the headaches are much better. Here's hoping anyway!!

This drug is DANGEROUS. It damaged my lingual nerve permanently. I now have a paresthesia/dysesthesia of my tongue, right side, going on 17 months. It is torture. My taste is altered along with burning pain and tingling in my tongue on the right side.

Your situation appears similar to mine. I had been taking Avapro (AKA Irbesartan) 150mg 2x daily which was doing the job. Then my drug insurer refused to cover it. Losartan was suggested as an alternative so I began that. I was on 50mg 2x daily which seemed to work; that was in 2012. I moved to a new state in 2012 and changed doctors. When I first went on Yaz, I experienced extreme mood swings like I do every single time I switch birth controls. However with Yaz, these mood swings seemed worse and seemed to last longer than after other birth control switches. I stayed on Yaz until all the commercials about side effects began playing and I switched again after that.
