I have been taking Fosamax for 4 years. The side effects have gotten worse the last two. I do have an irregular heart beat (Supra VT) that has also gotten worse. My last bone density test shows the results to be very minimal if at all.

Terrible! Try getting off this medication! It messes up your brain chemistry. I ended up in the psych ward after the terrible anxiety after trying to taper off. I did not alleviate any nerve pain that I had or still have. It's cousin Lyrica is just as dangerous! I would not suggest either of these meds. Antisiezure meds should be used for that purpose only. I will usually take green tea when I feel like I am getting a cold, or if I have a cold, and it usually makes me feel better. From experience, I would recommend having it on an empty stomach, because it makes me nauseous.

Advil has worked for me every time that I experience a congestion when I have a cold. I take Advil because it helps me get to bed and sleep comfortably at night. I don't have to worry about having breathing problems.
