i was advised to take the drug two weeks before my period. i am on my 16th day of my period, i have experienced headaches, bodyaches, hotflashes, nausea, vomiting and of course long periods. i have been hospitalized, the Drs did a blood test, cat scan, pap, ultra and found nothing. i had discussed my concerns and changes i was experiencing after the pill but they all say it cant be the pill as the pill is suppose to help with the period. on the 5th i go for a biopsy. my life is miserable. i k... I tried to stay the course for about 3 weeks but loss of energy, nausea and occasional vomiting had me asking my doctor to get me off of Atenolol. I work out at the gym several times a week and noticed, (I wear a heart monitor to gauge my fat-burning and cadio zones), that I could not get above about 85 on my pulse rate when 115-120 was the target easily achieved before Atenolol. Result: I perpetually felt sluggish, morose and knew this drug was NOT for me.

My grandfather has taken Niaspan for a little over 2 years, he started within the last month with more moderate waking up at night a flushing. Definately helped me to stabilize my moods. When my spouse is gone though I can have bouts of suicidal thoughts, lack of energy. Need a booster with it. Very dysfunctional if a dose is missed in 12 hrs- dizzy, heart palpatations, unbalanced severely. But my life is still better with it
