Benadryl is a great medicine to stop an allergic reaction. I take the 12.5 childrens grape chewables and usually only need to take one to stop my reaction. The only downfall is it makes me a little sleepy

I have fibromyalgia and was very hopeful while taking this medicaiton but to tell you the truth my life was a living hell. I found myself in a deep dark place I had never been before, I think if it wasn't for my faith I don't know what this medication would have caused me to do. I have been taking Avonex for about 15 years. I credit Avonex for my ability to keep walking and to continue living a fairly normal life, with a family and a 20-hour job. I think I would be in a wheelchair if I never took Avonex. After finding out I had Graves Disease and thyrotoxicosis in January 2010 I was put on carbimazole (think I had symptoms for nearly a year but always put them down to something else, maybe "change of life" etc) After only 6 days I had a severe allergic reaction to the carbimazole that nearly lost me my life! I only took this after my wisdom teeth extraction. It was really great for the pain and seemed to even help the swelling go down in my face. The main downside was that it made me intensely sleepy. I basically slept those days away and didn't eat much. Not too much pain though so I was satisfied and came out of the surgery just fine.
