I too am hyperthyroid. I was prescribed carbimazole and had an allergic reaction with a skin rash which erupted within days. I then was prescribed PTU, propylithouacil which I initially took at a very high dosage, namely 12 tablets/day and after several weeks lost my taste completely and had bad headaches. My consultant reduced the dosage to two/day after 2 months as I had gone underactive. I gradually regained my taste but then developed pains in my arms so bad I couldn't sleep on my sides... It took some time to adjust the medication. The initial dose was too high for me. I was crying, upset and had not motivation to be active. After the dose was lowered, my happiness returned but some of the pain as returned too.

i switched from topamax to lamictal for prevention of migraines. i think it is a very good drug. i also have psych issues, mainly instability. Lamictal has really helped (more so than anything else).
