Sandostatin-Lar was very good at controlling my diarrea at first, but as the months wnet on I started to be very sick and had most of the serious side effects. I have been told to take stool softeners and the occasional laxative to help with constipation which worsen the bladder feeling. For the past month I have taken 3 stool softeners every night before bed time and the don't help. The stool become so hard, when I wipe I find blood from the lining. I was put on ativan 3 times per day starting in january for panic attacks that I was having. The problem with ativan is that if you are having a panic attack it takes a while for the medicine to kick in and stop it. I also was having some side effects with it such as tremors and nightmares. My doctor switched me to xanax and I liked it a lot better. It stopped my panic attacks within 10 minutes of taking the medicine vs the hour it took to stop them when I was taking the adivan.
