I have been taking lasix for over seventeen years. It is a diarhetic because it pulls teh potassium out of my body. So I need additional potassium to balance it out. It makes me photosensitive from the sun, so I have to wear long sleves to protect myself.

During the first week I took half a dose and experienced a pretty strong distaste to all foods. Even when I was hungry, the sight and smell of food made me feel sick. This went away during the second week. My only other side effect is that I don't sleep as much as I used to. Also, it tends to wear off suddenly between doses. I'm sure that has to do with my not finding the proper dosage for me (I've only been on it for about 4 weeks), but that is something to keep in mind when considering... View full comment

Yaz seems to be popular due to advertisement and not because of the quality of life the pill provides. I've heard different reactions from different women, I seem to be the only one who experiences worsened periods and severe weigh gain. I gained 37 pounds within a year.

It's not until I complete this survey that I realise what an adverse affect carbimazole has had one me. It did lower my thyroid levels (and that seems to be all my doctor is interested in) but I feel worse for it. I also wonder whether other medication interracts with it. I also take lithium (which caused by hyperthyroidism) and although my doctor has said this wouldn't be a problem, I wonder if it is an issue. Final comment. I now have a really sore lower back. I can't explain it any o... View full comment
