If you are taking Adderall XR it is important that you are meeting with an MD to best understand how it works. Also know, that Adderall XR is not a cure for adult ADD. It's important to read books and learn as much as you can. I know for me, I need to put my keys in the same place every time. I know when I study I need to eliminate as many distractions as possible. There are things that I do regardless of taking medication to put myself in a position to be successful. It takes work.

It improved my breathing with only using one puff per day and lasts over 24 hrs. I have had many side effects which I did not before attribute to it but now believe have only occured since taking it for almost a year. Elevated glucos level, low TSH level,tremors, waking up at night, dry mouth, severe hair loss in the front of my scalp with itchyness on the scalp, hunger even after eating or else nausea and loss of appitite, muscle fatigue, confusion, headaches for no reason, lack of balance,... I took this medication a while back because I had a very upset stomach and the taste was horrible, I almost threw up and it made my stomach feel worse. So since then I havent taken this medication.

Doctors seem to hand this stuff out like candy to kids. When my kid started with asthma we went alternative and got her off the drugs ASAP--I really regret getting hooked on Ventolin all those years ago. My daughter is fine now--no symptoms at all. Her doctor was really thrilled and really surprised. She was off meds in 3 months after being really bad, and with a family history...I was lucky he was supportive; most docs aren't.
