I was prescribed prednisone for two months to help with colitis. I developed Avascular Necrosis of the hips within 12 months due to this drug. I needed to have my hips replaced at age 31. They said it is a rare side effect, but it isn't rare enough.

This drug is a poison. It causes the conditions it's supposed to prevent. I never had a problem with flushing or redness before taking this. I had one broken blood vessel and that was it. Since taking it my face turned into a burning mess, and my lips are still messed up (I have to put vaseline on them about 5 times a day every day), and I don't sweat out of my face as much. I've used other over the counter stuff such as abreva, blistex, among other stuff, but nothing comes close to Herplex. As soon as I feel a burning sensation on my lip I take the Herplex and within 3-4 days is dry and gone..
