At first the drug didn't work. However when I started taking it regularly, same time everyday, it worked. My doctor told me to not drink anything 1 hour before I took it or 8 hours after I took it. That was a major pain and sometimes I found myself dehydrated.

Generally my experience has been good as my blood pressure is now under control.. I am taking three other drugs; Simvastatin 20 mg tablets, 1 per day and Omeprazole 20 mg capsules, 1 per day and 2 Benedryl tablets per night. I have experienced some dizziness, some depression, several bouts of optic migraine, slight to medium daily constipation, some slight weight gain, some memory difficulties (could be age related). I was prescribed this drug when I had a severe sinus infection and kept vomiting. The drowsiness associated with this medicine was more debilitating to me than the vomiting, so I stopped taking the medicine. I think that they did not need to prescribe me something so strong, and the doctor did not warn me of the side effects I would likely experience.

Started taking the medicine for malaria for a deployment to Afghanistan. About three weeks into the regiment, started to have vivid and unique dreams that were often violent in nature. This was a side effect but did not bother me. In fact I enjoyed the dreams a lot. I continued to take mefloquine and eventually stopped after I was back in the states. I never got malaria but my buddy got it and he was taking the same amount I got.

I have uterine fibroids and am experiencing very long periods. I tried red raspberry and it has shortened the duration to almost normal/no flow. But I am experiencing headaches and elevated blood pressure that started since I have been taking the red raspberry.

This was first prescribed by a neurosurgeon to replace MS-Contin he said due to the insurance coverage not paying for the MS-Contin. But since changing specialists, I find it difficult to get any other physician willing to write a prescription. They say that the DEA is cracking down hard on pain mgmt. doctors and primary care doctors who write out requests for this medication. It is difficult for the patient who has been on it for chronic pain and then not being able to obtain it from othe... View full comment
