Bacterial Infection treatment

Description
A Bacterial infection is a type of infection caused by pathogenic bacteria. There are many different types of bacteria, but only a handful are harmful to humans.
Causes
Pathogens can cause infections to occur by invading tissues in the body, producing toxic substances, or both. There are many different kinds of bacterial infections caused by many different types of pathogens like e. coli, strepcocci, staphylococci, etc.
Prevention
Prevention of bacterial infections are quite simple. Taking care of oneself is number one. Always washing your hands, taking regular showers, staying away from infectious others, eating healthy, and exercise. Also, cooking foods thoroughly and avoiding prolonged use of antibiotics aid in prevention.
Common Symptoms
Typical symptoms of bacterial infections include redness, heat, swelling and pain in the infected area. Others include fever, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, pus, drainage, green discharge, dehydration, and diarrhea. The symptoms depend on which type of pathogen is involved and which area of the body the bacteria have invaded.
Rare Symptoms
Rare symptoms include: occult infection in which no symptoms occur, and necrotizing fasciitis in which the pathogen "eats" the flesh that is infected. Other rare symptoms are Sepsis, sensitivity to the sun, sensitivity to light, blood disorders, deafness, kidney problems, abnormal blood clotting, severe shaking, low blood pressure, sensory loss, coma, seizures, paralysis, preterm labor, and death View more...
Traditional Treatment
Typical treatments for bacterial infections are prescription anti-biotics that my be injected, taken orally, or topically applied, depending on the prescription. Occasionally intravenous antibiotics will be used for severe cases.
Alternative Treatment
Alternative treatments for infections include ingestion of specific herbs and plants such as garlic, mint, pectin, and cranberry; and restoration of the biochemical balance and human flora in the body.

Research and Development
A potential treatment of bacterial infections is using Bacteriophage T4. A Bacteriophage (also known as Phage) is a virus that only infects bacteria. Research indicates that chances of Phages infecting animals and humans are low making them relatively safe and effective. Since Phages only kill bacteria, researchers hypothesize that Phages will invade the human body, not causing harm, and kill the View more...
