I am older, in my forties, and when I found out a friend my age got the vaccine, I decided to consider it. I have used NuvaRing for over 3 years and the onlly side effect I had was loss of sex drive. I loved being able to control my periods with it and not having to remember a pill everyday. That being said, after 3 years on it I started having severe lower abdominal pain. I originally thought it was a cyst but then the pain migrated throughout my whole pelvic area. I took levora for about 6 months and had to stop because the side effects. I had never taken the pill before this and didn't know what to expect. I gained about 20 lbs within the first 4 months and constantly had breast tenderness. I had extreme mood swings and a complete loss of sex drive. I often felt tired and dizzy, and for days at a time would experience terrible headaches. I was fine at 500 mg/day. When my doctor increased me to 1000 mg/day I developed severe abdominal pain and vomiting, requiring hospitalization, after 4 days of use.

Did not enjoy taking this medication. Everytime I took it, I got a yeast infection..the one good thing is that the severity of my period lessened. i have not taken this medication in three years.
