After my two surgeries (few years apart) I received Vicodin on both occasions and yes, it did take away a great majority of the pain, however, i was puking nonstop due to the nausea that my doc only advised me to take if absolutely necessary since I was so sick due to it. Xanax worked both as anti-anxiety medication and for insomnia. Small doses taken before bed seemed to help me fall asleep and stay asleep for about 8 hours, however upon waking up, and falling asleep, I found that memory and overall energy were both affected in a somewhat negative way.
