I too am hyperthyroid. I was prescribed carbimazole and had an allergic reaction with a skin rash which erupted within days. I then was prescribed PTU, propylithouacil which I initially took at a very high dosage, namely 12 tablets/day and after several weeks lost my taste completely and had bad headaches. My consultant reduced the dosage to two/day after 2 months as I had gone underactive. I gradually regained my taste but then developed pains in my arms so bad I couldn't sleep on my sides... I'm a slow but steady emotional rollar coaster...at the beging of each pack I become emotional about things that normals wouldn't make me feel that way. Next color, more emotional and it continues until I hit green. Then for that one week I'll feel "normal" again.
