I have been in this treatment for the last five months. I am very satisfied as I have good and steady results and have not noticed any serious side effects. I feel safe and well treated. the dose I am taking has been steady for the last 4 months now. my platelet count varies from 50- 180.000. Thje only thing that wotties me is that the doctor cannot give me a plan as to how long I will be taking this medicine. I have not had a splenectomy.

Over the summer mostly, I get itchy in my vaginal region and that is when I take Lotrisone. It cools down the burning I feel and makes me be able to do more because I don't have to lay down all day. It's a put on and go kind of medicine that does not make me drowsy.

Not 100% sure if all symptoms are due to taking carbimazole but have stiffness and pains in leg muscles and knees and also arms. Also seem to be bruising more easily and have hemaeroids and though not causing pain they are bleeding which is not coinciding with a bowel movement bleeding when passing urine, in between going to the toilet and when asleep. DHC works wonders!! Nothing like Codiene at all, so don't worry folks! Also* There is no ceiling effect like codeine! On the negative side, tolerance can build within days. If I were to make a comparison for those who haven't heard of Dihydrocodeine; I'd says it's the UK's version of our "Hydrocodone (Vicodin,etc)". The two are quite similar.
