prilosec otc worked fairly well for me. i'm not having stomach pains & heartburn as i was before. the only things i really noticed are i take the pill in the morning everyday. by the time it is the next morning, i feel the pain again until i take the pill. i'm hoping after the 14 day treatment that this does not occur because i will not be able to take the pills anymore. it is my 7th day on the pill & i've expierienced a piercing, stabbing headache in the back of my head & behind... My doctor, after drawing and evaluating my blood, suggested that I take an iron supplement. The supplement was an over the counter one, having 150% of the daily value of iron needed in a healthy diet. Since I hardly need meat, she suggested that I buy something with a percentage that high. Everyone responds differently to medications. Cymbalta has done wonders for me, and is the most tolerable medicine I've ever taken. There are absolutely no lasting effects of Cymbalta once you stop taking it by the way. It sounds like you have some other issues causing these problems, not the medicine.
