In 1984 I was given a single dose (as in One Time Only) of leritine IV push for severe pain and was knocked out for about 4 hours. When I awoke I was legally blind as in almost total darkness; I was later diagnosed with bilateral wet macular degeneration and bilateral neovascularization, the latter of which required laser surgery to arrest its progression. Vicodin was used after my wisdom teeth were removed and it relieved virtually all pain I felt and I was left with just a little sensitivity in my jaw. The only problem I had with Vicodin was that it occasionally made one pupil dialate and the other one would remain normal size.
