I was prescribed dexamethasone for severe inflammation in my tonsils when I had mononucleosis. I was unable to swallow and had difficulty breathing due to my enlarged tonsils, but the dexamethosone improved the swelling significantly very quickly. It made me very hungry, but I had also lost a lot of weight from my illness, so this side effect was not bad for me. I was very happy with Yasmin, until I started having full-body numbness. I went to several doctors who ruled out thyroid problems, not enough B-12 or Iron, and nervous system problems. Then I read up on numbness being a symptom, asked my doctor about it and she changed me over to Sprintec until I figure out what birth control I want to go on long-term.

This drug is very expensive (approx $3 a pill/1000mG), and the side effects are horrible. Although they tend to diminish after 6-12 months, the itching and hot flashes are a sure sign from your body that something is wrong. Concentrated fish oils and other remedies work better, and will not destroy your body.
