In 1984 I was given a single dose (as in One Time Only) of leritine IV push for severe pain and was knocked out for about 4 hours. When I awoke I was legally blind as in almost total darkness; I was later diagnosed with bilateral wet macular degeneration and bilateral neovascularization, the latter of which required laser surgery to arrest its progression. I used Zicam a lot whenever I started to feel sick, and I think it worked (it can be hard to tell because the cold was only developing, but it never got any worse). Unfortunately, I used the Zicam Q-tips as well and lost some of my sense of smell. Now I do not enjoy food as much because I cannot taste it.

This was by far the worst experience of my life. I had taken other BC pills off and on since I was a teen and even though some were slightly bothersome, they were tolerable - I am now 35 and can't believe how awful this particular pill was.
